Issues

From time to time, Big Bend Conservancy takes a stance on issues in support of the Park.  In 2016, Big Bend Conservancy signed on to support letters to increase federal funding for the National Parks, and to re-establish the Centennial Act.

The Conservancy has no stated stance on the border wall.  We realize that it is a concern for many lovers of Big Bend.  We encourage you to contact Congressman Will Hurd, who has Big Bend in his district, as well as the two Senators from the State of Texas.  And of course you can contact the Congressman for the district you live in.  They are the ones who would vote on funding for a wall at Big Bend.  You can also contact a park advocacy group that is currently working on this and other issues, such as our colleagues at the Texas Field Office for National Parks Conservation Association (https://www.npca.org/regions/texas#sm.0003bcnrx4v9eo4115n1efj4ok7jr).

Congressman Hurd has put forward a statement on the border wall with his position which you can find here:

His official House website will also have contact information for his office should you wish to express your concerns or opinion.
